An124 To Carry VO70 Hull To Alicante

An An124 will be in use by the yachting community again next week when it is scheduled to carry one of the two VO70 hulls of the Telefonica Negro syndicate from New Zealand where it has been under construction to Alicante in Spain.

When complete the yacht will be participating in the Volvo Ocean Race that leaves from Alicante next October 11th. Competitors will cover a distance of approximately 39,000 nautical miles during their 9 month journey around the world before finishing in St. Petersburg in June 2009.

The Antonov An124 is scheduled to make refuelling stops in Jakarta and Baku, Azerbaijan, before arriving at El Altet Airport in Alicante, Spain, next week.
